Rainforest is a dense forest usually found on
or near the equator where the climate is hot
and wet. Heavy rainfall results as the moist
air brought by the converging tradewinds
rises because of the heat. Over half the
tropical rainforests are in Central and South
America, the rest in South East Asia and
Africa. They provide the bulk of the oxygen
needed for plant and animal respiration.
